Choosing a two-zone Ninja air fryer in the UK now means choosing a shape: Dual Zone (drawers side by side), Double Stack (drawers on top of each other) or FlexDrawer (one wide drawer with a removable divider). All three let you cook two foods on different settings. This guide explains how they differ, using the published specifications.

The short version

Layout Example models Capacity Best for
Dual Zone (side by side) AF300UK, AF400UK 7.6L / 9.5L Kitchens with worktop width
Double Stack (stacked) SL300UK, SL451UK 7.6L / 9.5L Narrow worktops with height to spare
FlexDrawer (divider) AF500UK 10.4L Cooking one large item or two foods

Core caveat: this is a specification comparison, not a cooking test.

Dual Zone vs Double Stack vs FlexDrawer: what’s actually different?

The cooking functions overlap heavily. The differences are where the zones sit and whether they can become one space.

Dual Zone: two drawers side by side

The Foodi Dual Zone AF300UK splits 7.6L into two 3.8L drawers, and the Foodi MAX AF400UK uses two 4.75L drawers for 9.5L. Each drawer has its own time and temperature, and Sync finishes both together. It is the most widely used layout, so most accessories and cookbooks are written for it.

Double Stack: two drawers on top of each other

The Double Stack SL300UK offers 7.6L and the Double Stack XL SL451UK offers 9.5L, with the drawers stacked vertically. SharkNinja describes the XL as “30% slimmer” than the AF400. You get the same two-zone idea in less worktop width, but the unit is taller. The SL451UK also adds a digital cooking probe.

FlexDrawer: one wide drawer with a removable divider

The Foodi FlexDrawer AF500UK has a single 10.4L drawer. With the divider in, it works as two zones; with it out, it becomes one large space Ninja calls the MegaZone. It is the only layout of the three that can cook one large item across the whole drawer.

Which two-zone layout should you choose?

  • Limited width, spare height: Double Stack.
  • Plenty of worktop, want the most established design: Dual Zone.
  • Often cook whole chickens, joints or full trays: FlexDrawer.
  • Want a cooking probe: Double Stack XL SL451UK.

What this comparison does NOT show

  • We did not cook with these units, so we can’t compare crispness, speed or evenness.
  • Exact sizes vary by model. Check each listing’s dimensions against your worktop and wall cupboards.
  • We have no long-term durability data for any layout.
  • Prices change often, so we link to current listings rather than printing figures.

FAQs

Can a Double Stack cook two different foods at once?

Yes. Each drawer has its own settings, like a side-by-side Dual Zone model.

Is the FlexDrawer the same as a Dual Zone?

It can work as two zones, but removing the divider turns it into one large drawer, which side-by-side and stacked models can’t do.

Which is easiest to fit under kitchen cupboards?

The side-by-side and FlexDrawer models are lower than stacked ones. Check each model’s height against your cupboards before buying.
